EDC updated to 2.0...

The other night I was surfing the net and looking for some possible EDC Wish list items for later on in the year, however saw an awesome deal at Masters for the Leatherman Sidekick, Leatherman Z-Rex and Monarch 6 torch + a Leatherman Carabiner Combo, it also came with a Mollie sheath for the Z-Rex and a sheath for the Sidekick. Total package $88 AUD, was looking at it for my Father in-laws birthday, but couldn't pass up the deal for myself, I have now gotten my Rebar back and given my Leatherman Wingman to my wife to use.

Here are each of the tools...

Leatherman Sidekick multi-tool... This has now replaced my Wingman which is basically the same, however the Sidekick doesn't have the Scissors instead has a saw, now need for the scissors on the Sidekick as my LM Surge has awesome heavy duty scissors or I can rely on my LM Micra also. The Sidekick also has a serrated knife rather than the Package opener that the Wingman has, both are the same weight and size.

Leatherman Z-Rex Rescue tool... With summer heating up here in Perth, Monday is going to be around 38oC, I visit a lot of Shopping Centres for work, we have had over the past few years kids left in cars asleep while the parent runs into the shopping centre to pick up a few bits and pieces. Having the ability to use the Titanium window breaker is awesome. With the busy freeways and main roads we have here we also get a high number of car accidents, so having the ability to cut seat belts could and may come in handy.

Monarch 6 Torch (2x AA)... I already own the Led Lenser P3, however it is only 16 lumens so wanted a brighter light the Monarch is 100 lumens, this will assist me if I have to get out of the car at night for any reason and will be bright enough to been seen and for me to see where and what I am looking at.

The Monarch 6 next to my Led Lenser P3 (1x AAA), just a size comparison.

The Mollie sheath for the Z-Rex and the Cover case for the Sidekick...

Bonus gift in the pack was a Leatherman Carabiner tool...

I have made myself a back up EDC / Emergency kit for my car, in the pack it contains the following tools in the pack, I have also added a pair of Neoprene Inner Ski gloves to the mix to use with the Z-Rex, to give a small amount of protection if I have to use it.

* Leatherman Rebar
* Leatherman Removable Bit Driver (Rebar)
* Leatherman 21 Bit Kit (Surge, does fit Removable Bit Kit also)
* BG Gerber (Folder) Knife
* 2x AA batteries (Monarch)
* Monarch 6
* Disposable Gloves

New Leatherman MT's added to the Family...

This year my Wife gave me $50 bucks for Christmas and I went to Wellington Surplus in Perth and got myself a Leatherman Wingman for $49.95 AUD and while I was there couldn't resist the Leatherman Brewzer for $12.95 AUD.

 *Leatherman Brewzer

 * Leatherman Wingman

*My Whole Leatherman Family LM Micra, LM Rebar, LM Wingman and LM Surge. At the Top is the LM Bit Card, LM Diamond File (For the Surge), LM Bit Extender and the LM Brewzer.

Updated EDC Load out.

Ok since I last posted I have now added a few more additions to my EDC family. The photo below outlines my new EDC setup. ^New Additions

Left -
* Skinth OG Sheath^
Top -
* Leatherman Surge
* Leatherman 21 Bit Kit (Part of the 42 Bit Kit)
* Leatherman Bit Extender^
* Swiss+Tech Key Tool^
* Small Wrench
Bottom -
* Leatherman Micra
* Leatherman File for the Surge
* Led Lenser P3 (AAA) Torch
* BG Gerber Folder^

I love the Skinth Sheaths, and in fact have ordered another one this time the Skinth Plus, just waiting for it to come from Canada. Here is the above loaded out in the Skinth OG sheath, the OG is so compact and feels solid with no movement on my belt.

Total weight is around 20oz (For those in the US) and just a tad over 500g (for the rest). The Gerber is the only thing I don't carry in the OG Sheath, if I need it I carry it in my back right pants pocket.

2DazeMobility & EDC (Photo Heavy)

I have decided that my blog will encompass both Mobility Technology and EDC (EveryDay Carry) and how these can work side by side.

Why EDC you ask? Well at some time or another I have carried tools of some type from small screw drivers to scissors etc, I have just now taken it to that next stage, this happened on Fathers Day this year (2013) when my kids got me a Leatherman Rebar and Leatherman Micra combo set bought from Masters at $69.00 AUD. This full-sized Multi-tool opened up some much for me both at work and around the house, I now do not got out with out some type of EDC.

Here is my setups

This is the LM Rebar and LM Micra with the LM Bit Driver kit

So using this setup got me think about what else I could add to my EDC kit so when shopping at Bunning's and if you have been to Bunning's you know how hard it is not to stop and go "I really need that" or "I think I can use that".. then you hear that little voice in your ear say "No! You don't need that!".. which makes you stop and say Ok dear... I still got the following added to my kit.

Craftright 9PCE Offset Torx Driver Bit Set

Craftright 100mm /4" Adjustable Wrench

 Here is the above tools and my first load out..

As with anything new and exciting you get the bug and want to keep adding to it (to the dismay of my loving Wife) so for my Birthday in December my wife and kids were going to get me the Leatherman Surge as I wanted a heavy duty Multi-tool, I found one that had an awesome deal the Stainless Steel Leatherman Surge + Leatherman 42 Bit Kit + Led Lenser P3 (AAA) Torch.

Now my kids told me that I had to wait for my Birthday to get them but when they arrived... you know I just had to play with them and see what I could do...

The Leatherman Surge, Leatherman 42 Kit Bit packs and Led Lenser P3
So the Surge is a Heavy duty tool, and in fact it now has replaced my Rebar and Micra MT's and is my Main EDC carry, it is almost twice the weight of the my Rebar but doesn't fell that much heavier on my belt via the carry case.

Why would I use the Surge as my main EDC? Well for me the OHO (One-handed-Operation) Knives, and the Scissors was one of the main reasons and that it was a heavy duty tool and I have large hands so the Surge fits so well, as you can see below the layout of the 21 tools.

 So this is now my new EDC setup, that I personally carry on me, I have loads of other equipment that I carry and I keep most of that in my Work Trolly Bag.

TOP: Microfiber cloth, Leather Wallet, Camera case (no swapped for the Gen Surge LM sheath), Replaceable Saw blade,

MIDDLE: Holden Cruze SRI-V Key, G-Shock Watch, 16GB USB Thumb Drive & Samsung USB Adapter

BOTTOM: Samsung Pen, Permanent Marker, Led Lenser P3, Leatherman Surge, Leatherman 42 Bit Kit.

Well this is my introduction to EDC and what I currently have, so this site will be a blend of both EDC and Mobile Technology namely Samsung products like the Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smart watch.
